Couples & Honeymoons
It’s camping, but not as you know it. Situated on 30 acres of private native land, surrounded by breathtaking National Park and Conservation lands, Hurunui Jacks offer a unique glamping experience and a peaceful retreat into nature.
Hurunui Jacks began as a passion project for Maureen and John, an environmentally sustainable couple who wanted to share their beautiful region with an authentic experience.
The luxury campsite is nestled on the banks of the Kaniere River in a secluded corner of the property, perfect for a romantic couples getaway.
The spacious canvas tent has a comfortable queen-sized bed, a fully enclosed kitchen and bathroom, and a wood-burning stove.
The gorgeous rustic kitchen is fully equipped with utensils, hot water and gas ring cooking facilities. The bathroom has a flushing toilet, sink, shower and hot water.
The star of the campsite is the beautiful outdoor bath, where you can soak under the stars, surrounded by trilling bellbirds and tranquil wilderness.
Enjoy a glass of wine and relax as you listen to the bubbling river and meld into the ethereal landscape.
The property is fantastic to explore with bush walks through the enchanting rainforest and complementary mountain bikes to take on the West Coast Wilderness Trail which runs by the property.
Glamping at Hurunui Jacks is an exclusive experience, with only one luxury campsite on the property. It’s tucked away in a private, remote setting, where you can truly immerse in the stunning landscape and wildlife paradise. The luxury canvas tents are filled with comforting amenities, including a queen-sized bed with 100% cotton bedding and a pure wool duvet. The romantic outdoor bath has running hot water, and is tucked away in the bush with only a cacophony of birdlife and your partner for company.
The wood-burning stove will keep you warm at night, while the kitchen is fully equipped with bench space, cupboards, double gas rings and a hotplate for cooking, and all the utensils you need including pots, pans, crockery and cutlery. You’ll need to bring your own food, and the nearest supermarket is in the town of Hokitika, a 15 minute drive away. For an alternative to cooking at the campsite, you can venture into Hokitika to try the local restaurants and cafes.

The Hurunui Jacks luxury campsite was designed as ode to it’s stunning natural surroundings and is committed to ensuring the environment remains unspoiled. There’s no electricity and the campsite uses eco-friendly wood heating facilities and old style lanterns. The surrounding National Park and Conservation land are beautifully preserved, and the campsite nestles seamlessly into the bush. There’s only one campsite on the property, so you’ll only be sharing your spot with a symphony of native birdlife and river eels.
