asDunas is a lovely owner run and managed boutique property just 20 minutes from the centre of Vilanculos. The Italian owners Elena and Fabio delight in sharing their little bit of paradise with the world. Enjoy fantastic dining, great wine pairings and your comfortable accommodation hidden by thick indigenous coastal vegetation are two cottages and four canvas suites each with ocean view.
Located in the south of Mozambique, in front of Bazaruto Archipelago’s fabulous scenery at only 20 minutes north of Vilanculos town, this small boutique lodge will give you a unique opportunity to discover and experience uncontaminated Mozambican landscapes.
The property consists of two Cottage suites and six Safari suites, both come with their own private plunge pools and all offer lovely views out across the dunes and to the ocean. The Cottages can accommodate an additional children’s bed to create a triple. Only one Safari suite can be turned into a twin and there is no space for additional beds.
This is the perfect location for discovering the fabulous scenery of Mozambique, walking along idyllic white and gold beaches, safely swimming on crystal clear warm water, protected by one of the most famous coral reefs in the Indian Ocean.
Don’t miss the chance to explore Bazaruto Archipelago National Park: five wonderful wild Islands (Bazaruto, Benguerra, Magaruque, Santa Carolina, Bangue) are easily accessible by motor or sail boat trips.

The Property
The standout feature of the open plan lounge, dining and bar area is the magnificent ocean view. Stairs lead up to a mezzanine level that has been designed with relaxation in mind and of course the view! Outside is a covered veranda, a separate seating area, small martini pool, a large infinity pool and covered sundeck with loungers.
Within the lodge grounds are secluded chill out spots from where guests can immerse themselves in their surroundings. Stylish furnishings have been designed by Elena (who is an architect) and crafted out of local materials by a talented in-house carpenter. Wi-Fi is available throughout asDunas.
8 gorgeous suites are dotted along the dunes, all offering magnificent sea views and perfect seclusion for your beach getaway.
Dining
The food here is an absolute highlight. You will enjoy scrumptious homemade treats throughout the day. All rounding off with a gourmet tasting menu for dinner. Fabio is a qualified wine connoisseur so expect to get excellent pairings and be spoiled at this lovely location.
Activities
This lodge is an all-inclusive concept, including complimentary daily spa treatments, sunset on the on-site dunes (weather-permitting), laundry services. A highlight for us is the complimentary pasting making classes – combine your love of food with this amazing beach break.

Fresh fish comes from fisherman of the bay daily. Fresh vegetables, fruits and herbs are grown in the lodge garden. For those interested you can even join Elena if she’s heading into Vilanculos for her shopping trip and visit a local art gallery, Machilla Magic Arts & Craft Centre, a colourful capulana fabric shop and the old market.
