Couples, honeymooners & families
LUX Le Morne is certainly one of our favoured options on the island of Mauritius, it works really well for travellers looking to relax at the end of the busy safari in South Africa or Botswana, for example, or those who want to continue exploring and enjoying a range of different activities.
At the foot of the Le Morne Brabant Mountain, it not only gives the hotel an impressive backdrop but it provides shelter from the winds blowing across the island. Situated on an exclusive peninsula on the quieter south-west coast of the island of Mauritius you are always just a mere stone’s throw away from a powder-white beach and accompanying palm trees, hammocks and perhaps even the sight of dolphins breaching in the azure waters.
It is a challenge to find a small hotel or resort in Mauritius and although LUX Le Morne has 149 rooms and suites the focus here is certainly on the individual. Tailor-made experiences abound with well-trained and friendly staff always on hand to assist with any request, nothing is too much trouble. Enjoy a range of dining options or perhaps a customised picnic basket as you explore the region. The Le Morne Brabant mountain is on your doorstep and well worth a climb as well as the Black River Gorges National Park, which is full of colourful endemic birds and dramatic waterfalls. Closer to home there is a spa, tai chi and yoga are on offer, a choice of five swimming pools, snorkeling on the reef offshore and even a PADI dive centre.
As you would expect from a 5* resort of this size the facilities and grounds are extensive, from the seven dining options, including their own brand of coffee shop, renowned Thai restaurant EAST and pop-up Island Kitchen, to the five swimming pools that meander through the property, of which two are heated and one has a swim-up bar.
There are a range of room types to suit different budgets. The ‘basic’ Superior Rooms are a great entry level and full of clean, bright linens with a beach hut design and overlook the landscaped tropical gardens. The top end suites that are available, perhaps for those honeymooners looking to splurge, are the Ocean Junior Suites. The spacious rooms have stunning views across the lagoon thanks to the waterfront location along with their own patio to make the most of the views. As with all the rooms a large flat screen television is found on the wall and air-conditioning as standard. Our top tip is to go for a Classic or Sunset Junior Suite, complete with a whirlpool bath.
Although the atmosphere here is of an adult, romantic getaway, there are two kids’ clubs to cater for different ages and the classic junior suites are suitable for sleeping one child.
A range of room types, five swimming pools, a spa, PADI dive centre, gym, tennis, volleyball, bike rental, snorkelling, water-skiing, kite-surfing.
There are a number of dining options which might be included depending on the board basis of your stay, this includes The Kitchen, which is the central restaurant, The Beach, offering Mediterranean cuisine on the beachfront and EAST which serves sumptuous Thai cuisine.
Aside from the obviously impressive location, incredible service and facilities at LUX Le Morne, the other reasons that it is one of our favourite potions to suggest for our travellers lies in its commitment to sustainability. In fact LUX Resorts and Hotels are the first hotel group to have acquired SEMSI (Stock Exchange of Mauritius Sustainability Index) status. The hotel group have met four key eligibility pillars related to economic, environmental, social and corporate governance, promoting sustainability, sound governance and transparent business practices
