Look over the unspoilt Msunduze River towards the Lebombo Mountains in the distance, where Africa’s Great Rift Valley begins.

With only nine luxury suites, this intimate family-owned safari lodge is a stunning base to explore the diverse landscape of Manyoni, which is home to the Big 5, cheetah and a generous population of plains game, including elusive riverine species such as nyala and bushbuck. The indigenous forests and meandering rivers are a birder’s paradise.

Activities at Leopard Mountain include informative and enriching game drives and walks on Manyoni Private Game Reserve or visit Hluhluwe-Imfolozi Game Reserve for the day, which is 50 kilometres away. Join your guide for a midday waterhole lookout experience to observe animals in need of refreshment, or visit the holistic Africology spa with a treatment inspired by the wisdom of Africa’s traditional healers.

How this lodge makes your trip more responsible

As a founding member of Manyoni Private Game Reserve (formerly Zululand Rhino Reserve), Leopard Mountain supports some excellent conservation and community-orientated initiatives. These include the Zululand Rhino Orphanage, which rehabilitates orphaned rhinos back into the wild, and the Zululand Conservation Trust, which funds both conservation and community upliftment in KwaZulu Natal.
