A luxury boutique hotel located on Auckland’s High Street, Hotel DeBrett is a glamorous and chic getaway which will transport you to the 1920s, with a prime location in the heart of the city.
The building’s architecture is a great example of the Art Deco style, blending in nicely with the fashionable neighbourhood of designer stores, bespoke tailors and high-class barbershops. Yet, the location is also one of convenience, as the Britomart, lower Queen Street and the waterfront are all walking distance away.
The architecture and style reflect the hotel’s enduring and colourful history. One of the city’s first hotels, the property was originally built in 1841 and named The Commercial Hotel. Two fires and two rebuilds later, the current structure was erected in 1925 and renamed in 1959 after DeBrett's Guide to Etiquette.
Passing through the hands of the Dominion Breweries and later operators in 1980s, who focused on food and drink, the hotel has long been known for its great atmosphere and culinary prowess, as well as for being the hippest meeting place in Auckland. The iconic Housebar is the heart and soul of the hotel, serving up delicious cocktails.
Today, the hotel is as lively as ever and somewhere to be seen around town. Hotel DeBrett holds awards from Trip Advisor and Conde Nast, as well as a Beef and Lamb Excellence Award for their high culinary standards at DeBrett’s Kitchen.
