The lodge is located in a stunning valley encircled by the peaks of four towering mountains: Pasochoa, Ruminahui, Cotopaxi and Sincholagua. This is the ideal base for guests who want to sink deep into nature and get to know the Ecuadorian highlands on foot, horseback or bicycle. 

So much of what makes this lodge so special is the people who run it. The outstanding knowledge of awesome trekking routes and epic explorations in Cotopaxi National Park shines through with daily experiences here. 

The owners of Chilcabamba Mountain Lodge wish to share a home with their guests. The sublime landscapes surrounding are viewed from every window and garden space of Chilcabamba. These world-class vistas aren’t something that many people get to see and experience. 

From the lodge, set off to explore the Pita River and gushing falls, whose cold water course runs straight from the Cotopaxi volcano’s glacier. Visit the Jose Rivas Refuge neighbouring, or buckle up and horse ride inside the National Park, watching condors soar overhead. 

This is a destination for the active and ambitious traveller, with oodles of fascinating opportunities for families. Each day in Chilcabamba Mountain Lodge is action-packed, and evenings spent by a warming open fire gazing at the star-cluttered sky are absolute bliss in a remote environment.

The Lodge

Chilcabamba Mountain Lodge has only 10 rooms. The building itself is constructed from cosy local materials, and each room is equipped with a toasty wood-burning stove to keep you snug at night, along with hand-made ponchos and heavy duvets. Outside every window, the property boasts spectacular views of the surrounding mountains. 

Facilities

WiFi, a restaurant serving locally sourced food, a games room, an outdoor fire-pit, wood-burning stoves, biodegradable toilets, a laundry service, and daily housekeeping.

Dining

Hearty breakfasts are provided to set you up nicely for an action-packed day. The restaurant serves locally sourced, traditional food enough to warm the soul with delicious tastes.
